A new direction, a new me!
Since turning 50 a few years ago, and losing my parents quite suddenly, I decided to take on a new direction with my life. Don’t get me wrong the thought petrifies me but I know I can draw from my life experiences and go down this new road called life.
My children Luke & Abi have both now left home and are starting their own lives and I’m left with the dog!
I decided to leave my teaching career in July 2023 after 31 years in secondary education. Teaching is a job I have always loved, but I was getting tired the older I became and realised the skills I had gained over the years were highly transferable.
I researched the role of a Funeral Celebrant after being truly inspired by the one who led my parents funeral and I realised it was destined to be my journey too. So Foremost Ceremonies was born, with ‘foremost’ coming from my parents business name. I believe there is something so rewarding about creating memorable life stories and helping a family say a heartfelt goodbye to a loved one……I had this support and I really want to make a difference and offer that support back.
Alongside this journey I have actually gone back to education but in a completely different role, coordinating Outdoor Education, residential trips abroad and giving young people the opportunities of a life time. It’s part time and flexible which is perfect whilst I launch myself into the unknown!!
So here I am, fully qualified as a Funeral Celebrant, insured and ready to embark on this amazing journey. Next on the list is to add weddings and naming ceremonies to the package…..watch this space.
And so it begins……..2025 is a new direction, a new me!
